What more can we say about West Ham? They are on
an appalling run, and there are big rumours that
this could be manager Alan Pardew's last game in
charge if the result does not go their way. As we
speak, there is news that former England boss Sven
Goran Erikkson has been approached for the job!
Results wise, they are terrible. West Ham have lost
five games in a row without scoring a single goal in
the league, and they were embabarrassed in the
League Cup midweek, losing 2-1 to Chesterfield, two
divisions below them. Blackburn are having a
reasonable start to their season, although their
form is pretty inconsistant, winning one week then
losing the next! They are however unbeaten in their
last three away outings, which includes a good 1-1
draw at Anfield against Liverpool.
The bookmakers are undecided as to the outcome of
this game, with West Ham 6/4 for the home win and
Blackburn 7/4 for the away win. This is a difficult
one to call, as if the gossip is correct, this could
be Alan Pardew's last game and so he is going to be
desperate for the win. West Ham's run cannot
continue for ever, and Im sure they are capable of
winning this game or at least getting a draw.
However, I do fancy Blackburn to find the net
today. Of course the Hammers are conceding goals all
over the place, while Blackburn have scored in both
of their previous two away trips. I fancy
Benny McCarthy to come good this week after he
missed a pen last week and spoiled our pick! He is
11/5 to score anytime with Coral, who offer all new
customers a free £10 bet on the game. Get on the
South African - he's scored three goals in his last
four Premiership games. |
