Watford come into their first home game in the
Premiership for six years after two shocking
decisions at Everton, which robbed them of at least
a point. Firstly, they wern't awarded a penalty when
Alan Stubbs handled in the box, while Chris Powell
was penalised for the ball hitting him in the face!
Even though the result did not go their way, I was
impressed by the Watford team. I assume you mean
Tynecastle. If so, I've lost count of the number of
times I've been in the ground and I've yet to see
anybody hanged for anything. As far as I'm
concerned, anybody can bless/cross himself there
anytime if he wants to, unless it's a deliberate
atempt to inflame. (Note: Cristiano Ronaldo did it
very publicly at Upton Park yesterday but his side
still lost.) I've pointed out before on this forum
that Hearts have had many RC players down the years,
including one who was the club top scorer for about
4 decades. In any case, many of our Lithuanian and
Russian employees probably cross themselves
regularly, even if it's in the Orthodox manner. West Ham won their opening game, after coming
from one nil down to beat Charlton 3-1 at Upton
Park. Bobby Zamora netting twice late on, but we
must take into account Djimi Traore being sent off
early for the away side. the midfield of Lee Bowyer,
Benayoun and Reo Coker impressing in midfield. I
find nothing wrong with Boruc or any other player
crossing themselves , whether its at Ibrox or
anywhere else for that matter, as long as its a
religious thing and not done provocatively.
In watchin the match yesterday Boruc crossed himself
facing the Rangers supporters behind the goal which
could of incited the lunatic fringe into causing a
riot. Mr artur boruc blesses himself while facing
the goal he`s protecting before kick off at the
begining of each half..
is there not a campaign in scotland? one scotland
many cultures? all that carry on... so people in
scotland are encouraged to accept all faiths and
ways of life etc?
so a catholic man blesses himself before he takes
part in a game of football... the only 'crime' he
commits? its done in front of people who cant accept
his faith... which takes me back to "is there not a
campaign in scotland?"
I dont know if this was absent mindedness from an
ignorant foreigner umaware of the religious and
political situation particulary in the west of
Scotland or an inflammatory gesture aimed at the
Rangers support
whether these players are from Pollock or Poznan
they should be made aware of the potential
consequences of such actions and perhaps refrain
from doing so in such a high profile public place
Betting wise, this is Watford's first home game
for a while in the Premiership, and regardless who
they are playing there should be a great atmosphere.
Watford were unlucky against Premiership veterans
Everton on Saturday, and if they show the same kind
of form they will give West Ham a hard time. The
Hammers were equally impressive, but of course they
did have the extra man. Watford will also welcome centre-back Jay DeMerit
to the side, who missed out on the opening day with
injury. This should be a very tight game, but Im
predicting a narrow win for Watford at some
attractive odds of 13/10 with Coral. |
