Liverpool look to be getting back some of their
previous form after thumping Bordeaux 3-0 at home in
the Champions League midweek. Another important
point was the return to form of Steven Gerrard, who
was superb and finally found the net for his club.
Domestically, Liverpool are extremely strong at
Anfield, it is only on their travels where they have
problems - they are unbeaten at home this season,
winning four out of their last five games, and
drawing the other against Blackburn. They also score
a bagful, averaging over two goals for every home
game.
Reading had a great start to their season, but
now reality is setting in and results are going
against them. They have lost their last three games
and have only scored once. They were beaten 3-1 by
Portsmouth in their last away trip.
As you would expect, Liverpool are heavy
favourites for this game, with best odds of 1/3 for
them securing the points. Of course, I think
Liverpool will win, but I'm on the lookout for some
extra value. One man that catches my eye is Steven
Gerrard.
As mentioned, he secured his first goal of the
season against Bordeaux and I think this will give
him a huge surge in confidence for this match.
Reading are leaking goals at the moment and he can
take advantage.
