" Well, anyone who saw Liverpool's trouncing
of West Brom on Boxing Day could not have failed to
be impressed - Even though the Baggies had a man sent
off, the passing and form of Steven Gerrard and Riise
was exceptional, and I have the feeling the 'Pool
could be on the start of a good winning run. They
come into this game on the back of some good recent
form - they have beaten both Newcastle and Arsenal
in their last four games at Anfield, and so Southampton
are in for a very difficult match indeed. Southampton
come into this game on the back of a disappointing
0-0 home draw with Charlton. Their recent home form
has been nothing short of abysmal - they have lost
their last three away trips in which they have conceded
ten goals!
Of course I'm backing Liverpool for a win here -
but the odds of around 4/11 dont really offer much
value. Instead, I'm looking at the total goals market.
Liverpool have scored eight goals in their last two
games, while Southampton have conceded eight in their
last two away trips!
Im going for 4+
goals @ a nice 13/8 with Totesport [£25

were brought off early in the West Brom game, and
they will be eager and fresh to face a leaky Southampton
defence. Liverpool look good going forward, especially
with John Arne Riise down the left, and I think the
goals could fly in today. Take a saver on the 2/3
goals @ evens and we will be on a winner! "
One thing that niggles me though is he shifted
one group of players jeffers, rooney etc.... then
brought his own in , this lot we have now.
they play for him yet seem not to like him??
its a worry as players need the slightest excuse and
they will give up! I've said this before , to club
officals , he needs a number two. a joker, someone
who can fany the players. at this moment in tome ,
there are players who will give everything yet dont
like him, they dont have to but respect his
decision, they have too. this is the point that
worries me. by his own admission , he can be dour,
driven some say, great but 24x7 ?? if he had a
number two who slackened the intensity a bit ,i
believe we'd have the success he craves. problem is
, hes a control freak, his current number two is a
lovely man but a fitness fanatic who agres with
everything he says. i'll ask u lads this, do u think
it'll change for the better this seaon? can he take
us to the promised land? my view is yes to the first
without doubt , second.... hes got to get a funny
guy in with him to train them, have a bet with them
, a bevy. if he doesn't we'll have these impasses
were its not a happy camp.
