"Liverpool will not have to face Monaco's
star striker Javier Saviola in their Champions League
group opener at Anfield on Wednesday as the Argentinian
international is suspended. Saviola has to serve a
one-match ban for the red card he received playing
for Barcelona against Celtic in the UEFA Cup last
season.
It is a major boost to the Reds who stuttered through
the final qualifying round with an unconvincing win
against Austrian double winners Graz AK. However,
Monaco are a shadow of last season's team having lost
Fernando Morientes, Jerome Rothen, Dado Prso, Edouard
Cisse and Hugo Ibarra in the summer. Coach Didier
Deschamps has drafted in Saviola, Uruguayan Javier
Chevanton and Mo Kallon, and his side have made a
steady start to their domestic campaign with ten points
from their first five matches.
I think Liverpool will put up a good fight this
time in the CL - Gerrard is in unbelivable form, while
Monaco have lost alot of quality during ther off season
and have Saviola out for this match. Therefore the
pick is Liverpool
for a straight home win @ 2.04 with Betfair

Is this the best league in Britain at the
moment? 12 teams within 10 points of the top, 4
teams within 1 point of the top, great 'sleeping
giants' like Leeds, Derby, Southhampton, West Brom,
Birmingham, up and coming clubs like Stoke, Burnley,
Preston, Cardiff, Plymouth, average clubs that fall
in neither camp like Wolves - it's one hell of a
scrap! Goals galore, exciting matches, atmosphere,
everything. God bless the championship. I agree it
is the most interesting. As a Bolton fan i have no
bias, and some would say no idea, but i think the
xmas period will really make the picture much
clearer. Think the four fixtures in two weeks or so
will see a couple of teams gain a bit of breathing
space. Also any team making a major signing in Jan
could be interesting. Anyhow good luck to all
concerned, i just hope PNE fall away, purely for the
fact i bet a work mate(female) that they would not
make the play offs. Can't have a bird takin money
off me don't count us out yet mind you lads. 4 gam
run we're on with two home games against Norwich and
Luton on the horizon that we'll be expecting points
from and we could've got ourselves in a very nice
position come christmas. Its looking very tight
though thats for sure, and makes it very interesting
for a load of teams in the division. Far more
exciting that the Premiershit thats for sure with
its overhyped and overpriced games.
Bolton charging scummers £43 to get in and Burnley
charging us £18 and crowds likely to be fairly
similar as well I bet.
