Everton are coming into this
game off the back of superb performance at
Tottenham. Down to ten men for much of the game
after Kevin Kilbane was sent off in the 33rd
minute, Everton were full of spirit and application
and ran out worthy 2-0 winners. Moyes was ecstatic
with his team and if they were to repeat this
performance then Liverpool will have a difficult
time of it. The key battle could be in midfield.
Everton dominated in the middle of the park against
Spurs and they’ll look to stifle the Reds in this
area. It’ll be difficult with a man like Gerrard
around, but their pairing of Arteta and Cahill are
arguably as good as any midfield pairing in the
Premiership. They seem to battle for everything in
the centre of the park, and I'm sure the tackles
could fly.
Booking index could be high
with 2 red cards and 6 bookings in the corresponding
fixture last year and with Graham “Three Cards” Poll
in charge things could be interesting.
Both these teams have some
great new signings. It will be interesting to see
how new Liverpool man Dirk Kuyt will do in his first
Merseyside derby, while Craig Bellamy is still
waiting for his first Liverpool goal. Andy Johnson
to score anytime looks a tempting bet, as this game
could go either way in the home, draw and away
betting. The man is on fire and gave the Spurs
defence all sorts of trouble. If you are looking for
an outsider bet you could plump for Everton’s 18
year old striker Victor Anichebe, who might just
make an appearance now that Kevin Kilbane has gone
to Wigan, and James McFadden appears to be injured.
Peter Crouch is also on fire at the moment and you
wouldn’t bet against the tall one getting on the
score sheet, having scored for England midweek
against Macedonia.
At the moment this game could
go either way. It’s very evenly balanced, so we'll
go for Andy Johnson to score anytime @ 7/4 with
Bluesq, who will offer all new customers a free £25
bet. He is Everton's best attacking option going
into this game, while Liverpool's goals could come
from a number of sources. The ex Crystal Palace man
looks the most likely to score for the home side,
and should be backed.
