" Everton come into this game with one
of the best home records in the league. They ahave
already won eight home games this season, a better
record than Arsenal and Man Utd, and they have won
their last five games at Goodison. This form has seen
them rise to fourth in the league. Charlton are also
on a good run, they have won three out of their last
six away trips, and come into this game on the back
of a good 3-1 home win against Birmingham.
This is going to be a tight game, as both teams are
playing well and with confidence. Everton are holding
on to their position in the league, while Charlton
are climbing the table due to recent results. For
me, Chalrton still have doubts over their away form.
They have already lost six times away this season,
and lost their last away trip 1-0 to Blackburn. Their
main problem is scoring goals away from the Valley
- they average just over half a goal for every away
trip! Everton have recently beaten Liverpool, Portsmouth
and man City at home, and I think they will have enough
for Charlton today. Get on Everton

while Charlton have problems scoring away from the
Valley, the scousers should have enough to beat their
London rivals today. " Malbranque’s a
quality player. If we can get him, I think it'd be
great. I was hoping all summer that we’d sell Cahill
and get Malbranque and re-sign Gravesen. For me,
Carsley has to play if Cahill is in the side
(obviously Neville can do the job if Hibbo’s playing
right full). It’s all well and good to say how good
attacking wise we’d be with a midfield of Osman,
Arteta, Cahill & Davies/VdM but then there’d be zero
cover for our back four. Imo, it'd be kamikaze,
Kevin Keegan style football. We’d get ripped apart
on the counter by any half decent side.
It seems now that not everyone is happy with the
signing of Lescott. What’s changed? Surely it’s
Moyes we must be disappointed with, and not the
player himself. AS mm has pointed out, it’s another
£5m for a player to sit on the benchI got a bit of
grief when I had the temerity to question whether
Lescott might not be the best possible signing for
us, when what we actually need is a commanding,
vocal centre half.. It’s a bit unreasonable to
expect a young lad with zero Prem experience to come
in and have what it takes to lead a back four.I
never quite get where this holding midfielder has
come from, it seems a new thing to me, I may be
wrong, Who was the holding midfielder when we won
the league ? Reid ? Who was Liverpools when they
were winning title after title ? Maybe footy has
changed and you do need an out and out defensive
midfielder but Ball was a midfield general, McGovern
for forest, Reid when we were good, all busy players
just linking the play, short and simple off the
defenders to the front ? I don't know, just seems
very fashionable at the moment this Holding midfield
role
