Meanwhile, the virus that struck down some of Everton's
squad last weekend seems to have subsided ahead of

of players such as Simon Davies, Lee Carsley and Joleon
Lescott in midweek - who were all asked to play in
unfamiliar positions to help the Blues overcome their
Championship opponents.like to hope that youngsters would
have the knowledge to realise that if they want to get some
first team football they are better off staying away from
Chelsea. Chelsea may have a great accademy but if this lad
is really that good he will get better experience playing
first team football earlier rather than later and i'm sure
if he can start breaking into the reserves and proving
himself he would get a chance of a loan out to another club
for a while. if he's really up to it he'll get his chance to
go to Chelsea or the likes if he really wants to once he's
proved himself and until then he wouldn't get a chance with
them anyway
Everton head physio Mick Rathbone said: "Simon did well to
play because he had been feeling unwell all day and was not
well at half-time.
"He went over on his ankle in the second half and he
probably would have been able to run that off but we decided
to bring him off - and it was also an opportunity for him to
get up to the toilet!"
Rathbone added: "The virus seems to be quite short-lived.
Two or three players have had it quite bad and maybe six or
seven who have had more minor symptoms."
