Hull City
Last year: 2nd, League 1
Ground: Kingston Comms Stad.
Capacity: 25,404
Manager: Peter Taylor
(22 months, W65, D34, L37)
HULL are a side with momentum and having won two
successive promotions, they aim to emulate Plymouth
who went from League 2 to the Championship in three
years and survived last term.Only champions Luton scored more than Hull in their
promotion season, and if Stuart Elliott can transfer
the form that saw him score 27 goals in 36
appearances in League 1 to the Championship, they
will have a fighting chance of staying up.
Peter Taylor has said he wouldn’t stand in Elliott’s
way if he had the chance to play in the Premiership,
but only if the price is right.
This season will be all about consolidation and
after a long search for a central defender, Taylor
has recruited Danny Coles from Bristol City. He’s
joined at the back by Portuguese keeper Sergio Leite,
from Ovarense.

Ipswich Town
Last year: 3rd
Ground: Portman Road
Capacity: 30,300
Manager: Joe Roy/e
(34 months, W67, D34, L40)
THE TRACTOR BOYS are odds-on for a top-six finish
with the tote after three seasons of steady
improvement since they were relegated from the
Premiership in 2002.
However, last season’s top-scoring Championship side
will have to do it without their star strikers as
Darren Bent and Sheflc.i Kuqi - 19 league goals each
last term - will both be playing in the Premiership
this season.
Sam Parkin moves in from Swindon where he has scored
67 times in League 1 over the past three seasons and
is joined by the experienced Nicky Forster from
Reading.
Joe Royle has been attempting to add some defensive
cover to a squad that is not the deepest in the
Championship but, thus far, has not succeeded.
Expect some new arrivals before the transfer window
closes at the end of August.
