Chelsea come into this game on the back of a
small transfer upheaval - Ashley Cole has finally
joined Chelsea after a long drawn out saga, while
defender William Gallas has gone the other way,
joining Arsenal after planning on scoring an 'own
goal'! Chelsea have begun the season pretty well as
expected, winning two out of their first three
games, however they will be annoyed with their
performance at Middlesbrough where they surprisingly
went down 2-1 after taking the lead. Charlton
started off their campaign with a 3-1 away drubbing
at West Ham, and a loss at home to Man Utd, although
they finally got their season off with a 2-0 home
win over Bolton. They will be concerned about their
defensive record, having already conceded six goals
in their first three games.
I think the Ashley Cole and William Gallas saga
has affected the Chelsea team over recent weeks,
especially in the changing room, but I think with
the deal finally done, the players can finally
concentrate on the football. This could be a
particularly bad day for Charlton boss Ian Dowie, as
his team already concede an average of two goals a
game. Added to this, they have lost their last four
games on the road, and haven't had an away win for
15 games stetching back to last season - now they
face the Champions!
Not surprisingly, Charlton are a massive 18/1 to
win this game, which are ridiculous odds and may be
worth a small punt. Chelsea at 1/5 also doesn't
offer much value either. So, once again we are
looking towards the anytime goalscorer market, and
we are again going for a striker that has already
won us some money this year. Andriy Shevchenko.
Although his price of 8/11 with Bet365 is still a
tad short for my liking, he should thrive in this
game, and can take advantage of a shaky Charlton
defence. Take the free £100 bet at bet365 and stick
it on the Ukranian! |
