Jose Mourinho faces his old side in a potentially
mouth-watering Champions League clash at Stamford
Bridge.
The current Chelsea manager guided FC Porto to UEFA
Cup glory in 2003 and an unlikely Champions League
success 12 months later before walking out on the
Portuguese side.
Mourinho's exit has led to a summer of discontent
and chaos at his former club. Former Chievo coach
Luigi Del Neri succeeded him, but was sacked before
the first game of the season for breaching the club's
code of conduct.
Del Neri arrived late to the club's training camp
and was replaced by former Real Zaragoza, Real Betis
and Celta Vigo coach Victor Fernandez. Challenge people

The behind the scenes controversy has done little
to help matters on the pitch and Porto have made an
inconsistent start to the campaign.
CSKA Moscow held them to a goalless draw in their
opening Group H game and they have won just one of
their first four league games. Fernandez will be without
first-choice full-backs Giourkas Seitaridis and Nuno
Valente for the Stamford Bridge clash.
Greek international Seitaridis has failed to recover
from the leg muscle injury that caused him to miss
the first win of the season at Guimaraes on Saturday
while Nuno Valente continues to recover from the partial
knee fracture he sustained in Portugal's recent World
Cup qualifier in Latvia. Bosingwa and Ricardo Costa
are expected to fill the full-back berths. Mourinho
brought Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho with him
to Stamford Bridge and the duo have contributed to
Chelsea's solid start to the season.
Chelsea have been criticised for their dull style
in the opening weeks of the season, but despite scoring
just seven goals in collecting 17 points from their
first seven matches, they remain just two points behind
free-scoring table-toppers Arsenal.
They produced their best display of the season when
demolishing Paris St Germain in their opening Champions
League game and if Didier Drogba had been steadier
in front of goal would have won more convincingly
than the final 1-0 scoreline at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
For me Chelsea are favourites for this game, Porto
are not the team they were, as their recent league
form shows. Chelsea boss Mourinho will be horrified
if he loses at home to his previous club, and Chelsea
wont disappoint. Get on at 1.55

changed from last season, but Chelsea have vastly
improved, while Porto have steadily declined."
