Its been a tough start to the Premiership for
Charlton boss Ian Dowie. His team lye in 19th spot
in the league, one place off the bottom. They have
lost five of their last six games in the league,
scoring only four goals in the process and conceding
a large eleven goals at the back. Arsenal it
seems, have turned the corner, securing an
impressive 2-0 win in the Champions League midweek
over Porto. After a slow start the Gunners have won
their last two games, beating Man Utd at Old
Trafford 1-0, and crushing Sheffield Utd 3-0.
It seems that Charlton are meeting Arsenal at
just the wrong time, as it seems that Thierry Henry
has finally kick started his season. He scored in
his last two games, two headers, and it seems that
if he is on song then Arsenal normally win. Nuno
Valente has been ruled out of Sundays clash with
Chelsea, picking up an injury in training, revealed
first. Lescott will play left back along with Stubbs
Yobo and Neville, making up the back four
Kipper don't seem aware of Valente being injured
Basil says: Ossie has got a hamstring injury. He is
making good progress and he has got a chance for
this weekend. It is very much the same situation
with Mikel and Phil. They are all in the same boat
in that they have a shout for Sunday but it depends
on how hard we want to push them and what the
repercussions may be with the Christmas period
coming up. There is a lot to discuss and consider.
There is an element of risk with anything you may do
medically but you do not want to take an outrageous
risk knowing that if it doesn't work out there are
four games in eight days a player could miss. That
is very much in the manager's mindThe
worrying thing for Ian Dowie is that his side are
leaking goals at the back. They are already
averaging over one goal conceded in every home game,
which is not a good statistic when you are facing
Arsenal. It seems that Arsenal will be able to find
the net. However, we should note that the Gunners
will be without William Gallas at the centre of
defence, as he limped off midweek. The Frenchman has
been very impressive so far this season for them and
his loss will be a big blow to Arsenal. We should
also note that Arsenal have only scored once away
from home this season, even if it was against Man
Utd. Everton's Icelandic Under 21 midfielder, Bjarni
Thor Vidarsson has been subject to many rumours back
home in Iceland this past week, NSNO understands.
The 18 year old, who joined the club's academy back
in the summer of 2004, is rumoured to be on the way
out of the club after being given permission to
leave by manager David Moyes.
Some rumours suggest that Vidarsson and his agent
are already in talks with Dutch club AZ Alkmaar
ahead of a possible move. Others suggest Swedish
club Djurgården are keen onlookers however Vidarsson
is said to not fancy that move. The midfielder has
been on the verge of the first team squad for a
while now and it would come as a big shock if Moyes
was to let him go especially with the club's
shortage of midfielders. The youngster is an
established member of the club's reserve side having
played 21 times over the last two seasons, scoring
six goals in the process
Arsenal should win this, but I'm going for
Charlton on the handicap. They did create some
chances in their last match against Aston Villa, and
at home I think they can snatch a goal and get a
draw against a Gallas less Arsenal. Get on
