The UEFA Champions League is UEFA's most prestigious club
competition. Originally created as the European Champion
Clubs' Cup prior to the 1955/56 season, the competition
changed format and name in time for the 1992/93 season. The
16 clubs that advance to the knock-out stage will play two
matches against each other on a home and away basis, with
the club scoring the greater aggregate of goals qualifying
for the next round. In the event of both teams scoring the
same number of goals, the team which scores more goals away
qualifies.
The two teams that advance from the knock-out
round contest the final, held as a single match. Beckham
has given the ball away more than any other England player,
if Gerrard plays further forward where he does his best work
for Liverpool then he wont be able to play as many long
passes, the whole England team is guilty of hitting too many
long balls.
I think Buffon and Cannavaro have both been
superb every game so far, defenders rarely get the credit
they deserve but some of the best players in this tournament
have been defenders. thought he was fantastic tonight. i'd
heard the hype, and he was cack in the group games, thought
aye aye, but he was the business tonight. But while he is
france's only hope of progressing against brazil, there is
more chance of me winning 'Tom Cruise lookalike 2006' than
he has of being top scorer. May be Ronaldinho is not getting
the service he desires. I think you can read something into
players reactions when they are denied what they thought was
a perfect chance to score by another player having a shot
instead of the pass inside. Morale can be the beating of any
team. If he scores a hatrick you can pass me the sauce and I
will eat my words

Jedburgh: Very difficult to write this one off. Won this
at york last year off 99, runs off 105 after putting up a
cracking effort to beat philharmonic who went on the finish
ahead of the likes of presto shinko and balmont when going
down to etlaala. Has been running reasonably well in listed
races prior to that which really aren't his cup of tea as he
likes a big field and fast ground. Straight course will be
no problem and he is well drawn. 10/1 on here.
Trafalgar got badly boxed in and no sort of run at lingfield
George, i remember as I backed him at 33s that day. Last
season he was with another trainer and lightly raced. Having
said that a rise of 8lb for that goodwood win is a bit
harsh, that was a weak race, Davenport did come out and win
at sandown with Millman taking off the 7 but that was a race
run at quite a strong pace and set up nicely for Davenport.
Also 2 of trafalgars wins have come on soft and g/s, so not
totally sure he will be up to this |
