Its been a pretty turbulent week for Bolton boss
Sam Allardyce, what with his 'bung' accusations, but
his team responded well last Monday by defeating a
resurgent Portsmouth side 1-0 away, the goal coming
from midfielder Kevin Nolan. Last nights result was
a forgone conclusion - 3 of our only 4 quality
players out, it was obvious we would have nothing to
offer. However, we are slipping down the table quite
quickly now and it must be harder and harder for
people to defend Moyes team and his tactics. When
you consider that Jo Royle had a better record at
Everton than Moyes and no-one thought he was much
good, it is hard to see why Moyes gets so much
support. We were thoroughly thumped last night, we
showed no improvement on previous seasons and if we
had lost by 6 no-one would have been surprised. For
those Moyes lovers where is the improvement they
claim. I for one can't see itBolton have been
quietly impressive so far this season, only losing
once, and they are tough to break down - they have
yet to concede a goal at home, and have won two out
of three at the Reebok. Liverpool are starting to
find their feet after a sticky patch, and they will
be delighted with the form of new striker Dirk Kuyt,
who looks very impressive. They won midweek in the
Champions League 3-2 against Galatasaray - Peter
Crouch finding the net twice.
Even though their home
form is good, Liverpool have only taken a point out
of their three away trips, and have only scored
once, and that was on the opening day against
Sheffield Utd. They do look a little brittle at the
back, and have conceded five goals already on the
road.
Bolton are traditionally very good at home, and
already this season the Reebok looks like a tough
place to come for even the bigger teams. However,
Liverpool do seem to be playing well at home at the
moment, but they have yet to translate this form on
the road. Bolton to win 1-0 @ a huge 8/1 does
offer some nice appeal, and is worth a small punt.
However the safer bet would be to go for the under
2.5 goals 1.8 with betfair, who offer all new
customers a free £25 bet. all the moyes lovers ? i
think the supporters of him are in a minority myself
.
the easiest thing in supporting a team is coming on
here offering a view but to actually manage the
situation in real time is quite different. my
overall view on managing everton is that it nigh on
mpossible to feed the fans the football we want
whilst bill kenwright is pulling the purse strings.
my gripe with moyes is hisstyle of play but when
asked 'why don't u play a more expansive game ' he
asked ' i'd love to and do try especially at home ,
but in away games ' whos going to get it back of the
oppistion for me when we lose it ' the defensive
midfielder that would do that for him wasn't
followed up in the summer so we didn't allow carsley
to go to wolves, so he had to do with a player who
he knows but would prefer many others but the budget
doesn't allow if what he has been told changes in
january then we should see a holding player who can
also pass /drive us forward. if the right offer
comes in for beattie , they're will be a partner for
aj but without the funds he is limited in what he
can do. he admits to being cautious but in fairness
we dont manage the club with the fear of if we
finish bottom half there is no money to spend next
year and even worse , if we were to be relegated '
this club would not recover '
i say all this, (regret it later too), not as a fan
of moyes but an insight of what actually goes on,
its not that easy. as for vdm to be played - forget
him , u have to be committed and fit to cross the
line at goodison , he is neither, forget him Bolton have yet to concede
a goal at home, while Liverpool have only scored
once on their travels so far. Get your free bet with Betfair and stick it on the unders! |
