" Barcelona midfielder Deco has warned
his team-mates to focus on the clash with Mallorca
and not allow themselves to become distracted by the
Champions League.
Frank Rijkaard's side play Jose Mourinho's in-form
Chelsea next Wednesday but Deco sees protecting
their four-point lead in the Primera Division as
their immediate priority.
The Brazil-born Portugal international said:
"Everybody is talking about the Champions League
match and it is very easy to forget the match
against Mallorca, which is as important as the game
against Chelsea. Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o says
that he will remain dignified if he hits the back of
the net against relegation-haunted Mallorca this
weekend.
Eto'o moved to the Nou Camp last summer after many
years of being an idol at Son Moix.
"I wish all the best to Mallorca, they are doing
better little by little and I hope that they
continue that way after the match against Barca," he
said.
"As a professional I have to defend my new shirt and
the fans of Mallorca will understand that but I will
not be celebrating if I score."
Meanwhile, Eto'o has spoken out strongly against
racism in football this week after giving his own
ironic monkey impression towards abusive fans when
scoring in the 4-1 victory over Zaragoza last
Saturday.
At midweek's tsunami benefit match in Barcelona,
Eto'o took the opportunity to speak to Arsenal
striker Thierry Henry and explain that Luis Aragones,
who made abusive comments about the Frenchman to
Jose Antonio Reyes, is not racist. Barcelona
defender Oleguer Presas will miss the game through a
hip injury with Mexican utility man Rafael Marquez
dropping back to cover in central defence.
This would allow winter recruit Demetrio Albertini
to assume the defensive midfield duties behind Xavi
Hernandez and Deco.
Mallorca coach Hector Cuper has told his players to
cut out errors ahead of the trip to Barcelona, the
side he claims is the continent's best.
Barcelona are back playing well- they trounced
Zaragoza 4-1 last week, but they offer no
value at 1.28 however. The best bet of this game is
going for the OVER 2.5. I'm on at a nice 1.77 at

OUTCOME |
Barcelona midfielder Deco warmed up for next Wednesday's
Champions League showdown with his former mentor Jose
Mourinho by scoring twice against Mallorca.
The former Porto player gave the Catalans the lead after 16
minutes, just a short while after Luis Garcia had failed to
score with a penalty kick for the visitors.
Barca then made the game safe with another strike from the
Portuguese international after 56 minutes, which owed more
to clumsy keeping from Miguel Moya who failed to gather the
ball.
The result means that Barcelona now lead Real Madrid by
seven points in the standings after their bitter rivals were
beaten at home by Athletic Bilbao, 2-0.
With Oleguer Presas out injured and also set to miss the
Chelsea match, Barca's Rafael Marquez moved from midfield to
his usual position of centre half and veteran Demetrio
Albertini became the holding midfielder.
The home side started lively with the pace of their
three-pronged attack unsettling the Mallorca defence. After
a few minutes Ronaldinho found Samuel Eto'o in the box but
he was dispossessed.
Albertini was looking lively, frequently using his range of
passing to find Ludovic Giuly on the wing. Ronaldinho was
hogging the left wing and was found well by some searching
long balls from Marquez.
But Mallorca won a penalty with their first attack of the
game. Poli Fernandez crossed from the left wing and Carles
Puyol was adjudged to have pushed into Luis Garcia.
The referee pointed to the penalty spot, but it was perhaps
a lack of confidence in the Mallorca team that led to Luis
Garcia's hesitancy and saw Victor Valdes save the spot-kick.
Luis Garcia stuttered a couple of times with his run-up and
then shot at a comfortable height for Barca's newly shorn
keeper.
Barca hit back with a Deco's first goal which came largely
as a result of keeper Miguel Moya being unsighted. The
former Porto player won the ball in midfield and hit a low
shot from the edge of the area which would have been
comfortably saved by Moya, but his view was obscured by a
couple of players in the box.
Barca were firmly in the driving seat but lapses in defence
will be of concern for the coaching staff and also a cause
of interest for Chelsea.
The Barca team were especially susceptible in the air and on
the point of half-time Gonzalo De Los Santos should have
brought the sides level. Rising for a corner he headed
against the crossbar from six yards.
Mallorca continued to find openings in the air. Several last
ditch challenges prevented the visitors with a clear run on
goal before Juan Arango's run was not picked up but his lob
from a difficult angle went well wide.
But in attack Barca are a different proposition and their
play at times was exquisite even though Ronaldinho is still
a long way off his former season.
Eto's speed and trickery has been the Azulgrana's strongest
tool but their second goal was another goalkeeping error
from Moya.
Deco picked up a short corner, turned his man, ran into the
area and hit a hard, low shot which should have been
comfortable for the keeper but instead it squirmed under his
body.
With the second goal as a cushion, coach Frank Rijkaard
decided to take off Xavi Hernandez, who had slightly twisted
his ankle in the first half, with Andres Iniesta replacing
him.
Barca continued to create half chances but the steam was
taken out of Mallorca's play with the islanders appearing as
though they had accepted defeat.
