"Aston Villa come into this huge derby
match with a good run of home form. They have won
three out of their last four home games and are yet
to be beaten. Birmingham are in a bit of trouble,
they have only won one game in twelve, and they have
not won in four games.
As with all derbies, this wil be a tough encountrer,
but for me, Villa should just edge this one. Defensively,
they are very strong and only concede 0.5 goals per
home game. I do not believe that in this country
there was any particular significance as to which of
the inside forwards would have dropped into
midfield. It may have depended on a particular
player's abilities. A left-footed inside forward may
have been either more defensive or attack minded,
and dropped back or not as the case may be.
However once 4-4-2 become established, it may have
been that in South America, the Inside forward
dropping back into midfield joning the naturally
defensive half back was always given the number 8
shirt, making him the more creative of the central
midfield pairing.
Other formations have since become fashionable
(5-3-2; 4-5-1 etc) and a player who is said to play
in the "hole" has gained prominence. got what we
deserved today.nothing.plenty of injuries but squad
has been threadbare for four years now and our
manager and our board has not addressed this.on a
personal note and its just my opinion but david weir
is finished and has been for sometime.great player
and a credit to our club and a few more like him
wouldnt go astray but if i was young hughes id be at
moyes door monday morning telling him i want out in
january.fair enough if he isnt good enough but if he
cant get in ahead of weir i feel for his sake hed be
better off elsewhere to give himself a chance of a
career.we need six players in the club in january
and there is no chance of this.be lucky to get two
plaers in.we need a right full,centre half,two wide
men a creative midfielder and a striker and then if
anyone leaves they have to be replaced too.was a
game we went out to hang on for 90mins imo and a
wonder goal scored and our recent playing style
meant we were beaten when that goal goes in.moyes
says we were rubbish and fair play for stating that
but he buys the players and picks the teams.on a
small note good to see van der meyde get another 80
mins under his belt.roll on the handy chelsea game
then away reading and we get into the bottom half
It may be that Tevez was refering to this, when
explaining that he is perhaps not an out and out
forwardThey have only conceded one goal in their
last four, and have scored seven. Birmingham were
thumped 3-0 by Arsenal in their last away trip, and
they have conceded six goals in their last two trips
away from St Andrews. Midfielder Jesper Gronkjaer
is also on his way out of the club with a move to
Athletico. I'm on Villa
@ 5/6 with Skybet [£10

every home game, while Birmingham have an awful scoring
record away from home - only averaging less than a
goal a game, and I dont think that Birmingham have
the firepower at the moment to compete with a resurgent
Villa side."
