Its been a pretty turbulent week for Bolton boss
Sam Allardyce, what with his 'bung' accusations, but
his team responded well last Monday by defeating a
resurgent Portsmouth side 1-0 away, the goal coming
from midfielder Kevin Nolan. Bolton have been
quietly impressive so far this season, only losing
once, and they are tough to break down - they have
yet to concede a goal at home, and have won two out
of three at the Reebok. Liverpool are starting to
find their feet after a sticky patch, and they will
be delighted with the form of new striker Dirk Kuyt,
who looks very impressive.
Even though their home
form is good, Liverpool have only taken a point out
of their three away trips, and have only scored
once, and that was on the opening day against
Sheffield Utd. They do look a little brittle at the
back, and have conceded five goals already on the
road. People are taking this moving out of Liverpool
thing a bit too far in my opinion. It's about 5
miles from Walton and literally the ground would be
a 2 minutes walk from Fazakerley which is classed as
Liverpool. It's not like they're talking about
moving to Warrington or Skem or somewhere.
As mm says it's got great potential for access to
and from it, the motorways, a train station closer
than the nearest one now (Kirkdale) and plenty of
bus routes to and from all areas of Merseyside.
Plus I live by the Fantail which will be a 2 minute
walk to the match, I could nip home for a when I was
busting during half time. dont want to move
from goodison, and i think the Kings Dock would of
been the best option, but for the future of the club
we must move. Lets look at it this way if we stay at
Goodison in 10 years from now a lot of the other
premier clubs will overtake us and have new grounds
and new investors. The likes of west ham portsmouth
villa and other clubs have more money than us and
can outbid us for wages and transfers in the
transfer market, we dont want it getting any worse
than it is now.
I just hope when Robert Earl comes over in January
for meetings he brings over funds and concrete plans
to take the club forward with him.
Bolton are traditionally very good at home, and
already this season the Reebok looks like a tough
place to come for even the bigger teams. I suppose
January & next summer will see wether our new major
shareholder is just holding the stock or if he is
going to stump up any cash.
I think the arab millions next door will be
forthcoming, these lads spend half a Rooney on a
yearling that might be nothing more than prospective
Kit e Kat, I can only see them pulling away if the
Sheikh gets seriously involved.
I suppose if you look down the list of clubs now, we
must be getting to the top of the list of big clubs
without serious financial muscle behind us and thus
if someone out there fancies buying into the weird
world of footy we must be on any shortlist.
I'm surprised how most of you lads are so phlegmatic
about a move to Kirkby, not sure why I am, but I am.
Agreed, it aint like Bolton who moved out to Horwich,
Kirkby is Liverpool in anybodys mind, the boundary
for most is a red dotted line on an I guess whatever
happens, even doing nothing is going to upset
people, it really is a no win for Bill & Bully. To
carry it off I think they need to get a detailed
scheme drawn up showing us what it would look like
then take a vote, I think it'd be accepted by the
majority, to not do so would leave them open to all
sorts of abuse, it'd be like Scargills miners strike
without the vote, no real mandate. However,
Liverpool do seem to be playing well at home at the
moment, but they have yet to translate this form on
the road. Bolton to win 1-0 @ a huge 8/1 does
offer some nice appeal, and is worth a small punt.
However the safer bet would be to go for the under
2.5 goals 1.8 with betfair, who offer all new
customers a free £25 bet. Bolton have yet to concede
a goal at home, while Liverpool have only scored
once on their travels so far. Get your free bet with
