Livvy staved off relegation thanks to a final-day
draw with basement boys Dundee despite being bottom
when the league split in April. Richard Gough was
the catalyst.
He took over the manager’s job in November with
the club looking certain to be relegated, bringing
in a handful of new players including Hassan
Kachloul, the centre of controversy after it was
alleged he had received payment despite being
registered as an amateur.
They have been fined, but Dundee’s request
for a three-point deduction - which would save the
Dark Blues from the drop - is the subject of a
judicial review that will not be resolved until
after the season has started.
Gough left in the summer and Paul Lambert became
Livi’s fourth manager in 12 months. Goalkeeper
Ludovic Roy, former Manchester United defender Paul
Tierney and Oxford centre back David Mackay have all
come in as Lambert looks for an improvement at the
back.
However it remains to be seen whether or not the
signings will fill the hole left by former captain
Burton O'Brien. The highly-rated O'Brien has been
enticed south to Sheffield Wednesday by Paul
Sturrock.
That doesn’t make for stability and, despite a rash
of new signings, another relegation battle looms.
