INSTALLED as favourites for relegation, Caley
Thistle adapted well to life in the top flight and
finished eighth, comfortably beating the drop.
Until mid-January; they had to play all of their
‘home’ games at Pittodrie but didn’t suffer unduly
for it, recording three of their seven homes in
Aberdeen and thawing four.
That was in spite of some dreadful gates in the
Granite City, including just 1,111 for the visit of
Motherwell.
This season they start at the Caledonian Stadium,
where they took 80 per cent of the points on offer
in their promotion campaign and should do all the
better for that.
The squad has been improved with Scotland U-19
defender Tom Parratt, arriving from Birmingham and
experienced striker Craig Dargo are the only
addition to the Caley squad, in which former Hearts
winger Juanjo was an inspiration last term.
There has been little activity in either direction
in the transfer market although injury-prone striker
Craig Dargo has switched to the Caledonian Stadium
after being released by Kilmarnock.
Brewster's job is to now build on that initial
success and to consolidate their position in the top
league. He will be without defender Stuart McCaffrey
who only recently found out that he had played the
entire last season with a stress fracture of the
back.
Goals did not come easily last season with Barry
Wilson the top-scorer with only ten to his credit
and with Spanish winger Juanjo next with seven. A
move to provide more depth up front has seen Craig
Dargo arrive from Kilmarnock on a two-year contract.
