Rory McIlroy – what next for the Irishman?

Written on June 22nd, 2011 by Moses

Rory McIlroy shook off all of the criticism given to him following his Masters breakdown with a superb win in the US Open over the weekend.

The Northern Irishman has secured his first major win at a very young age and this will give him the confidence and belief that he is good enough to go on and win two or three more big tournaments. The best price for McIlroy winning three majors is 40/1 with Skybet which is well worth a bet.

An interesting bet is what the next major is that McIlroy will be going for. There are a few tournaments on the calendar which he could place more focus on and the Masters in 2012 looks to be a good bet at 12/1 with William Hill. He has unfinished business with this tournament and will have an entrenched determination.

There are two majors left to go in the season and McIlroy will be playing in both of them. If he can hit the same sort of form again then there is no reason why he cannot get to the top of the leader board and repeat his success. A top ten finish in both of them is 2/1 with Skybet.

McIlroy’s world ranking at the end of the year could be very interesting. The way he is playing, it may be possible that he ends up as the new world number one, leaving some very good players trailing in his path. The best odds for this happening are 3/1 with Victor Chandler.

The year of 2012 looks set to be a very interesting one for this young man who will be determined to savour the taste of major success frequently. McIlroy to win a single major in 2012 is worth a bet at 11/4 with Paddy Power although he is capable of more than one.

"I have to take my cape off and salute Rory McIlroy, what a performance from the young Irishman!"
